ARTICLE Communicate Effectively about Health Care

Employees want medical information from their employers. In fact, a recent study found that:

  • 45 percent of employees want employers to suggest how to improve health.1
  • 60 percent of employees think advice on healthy eating, exercise, weight loss and smoking cessation would be extremely or very helpful.1
  • 49 percent of employees would welcome lifestyle guidance from a health coach.1
  • 55 percent of employees want information on quality ratings for health plans from their employers.1
  • 50 percent of employees think employers should provide information about the quality of health plans offered.1

The right communication strategies can help health care consumers make better choices about their health care benefits. This is especially important when you consider that employees do not make the best use of health care resources 46 percent of the time.2

Here’s how we can help.
We can:

  • Develop a communications plan that helps your employees or members make informed decisions about their health.
  • Provide an employer planning kit, employee enrollment kits, newsletters and wellness campaigns.
  • Customize the plan for different audiences within your organization.

If you’re a public sector employer with more than 5,000 employees, you can take advantage of the United With Me program. It will help you customize your campaign to further improve employee health care decision-making.
