Reducing the health risks and cost of diabetes through the Diabetes Health Plan
Keith Clark, Group Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for Affinia Group, has Health and Safety responsibility for a workforce of 2,000. Like many health managers, Keith is concerned about managing the health care costs facing Affinia and its people. One solution: UnitedHealthcare's Diabetes Health Plan. This new program gives diabetics and pre-diabetics incentives and personalized reminders to help them manage their condition.
"We're hoping to make sure they keep up with their meds and the things they need to be doing to control their diabetes. [It] will not only save them but will save our company health care dollars."
The Diabetes Health Plan provides incentives and information to empower diabetics and pre-diabetics to take charge of their health and well-being.
Keith is confident this program will empower the people to manage their diabetes more effectively. "The educating piece is really going to help them understand how they can better care for themselves and do the things they need to do... not letting their diabetes get out of control."
That's the idea behind the Diabetes Health Plan: informing and incentivizing patients to make better and often less expensive health choices.
