With more than 10 million members enrolled in its Medicare plans, UnitedHealthcare is the largest company dedicated to the health and well-being needs of seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries.
As an innovative approach to serving its Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers, as well as for people seeking enrollment in Medicare plans, the company recently debuted its first UnitedHealthcare MedicareStoreSM at the Regency Mall in Racine, Wisc.
The store opening is strategically timed to coincide with the Medicare open enrollment period, Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. During this time, Medicare beneficiaries can explore their coverage options or obtain in-person consultations from representatives who can help find the UnitedHealthcare Medicare coverage that best meets their health needs and budgets.
Medicare is the nation's largest health insurance program, with 49 million Americans enrolled. According to a survey conducted last year by the National Council on Aging and UnitedHealthcare, most adults ages 60 and older say they find Medicare confusing or do not understand it at all.
Within the store, baby boomers, beneficiaries and caregivers can access resources to help them understand the Medicare program and printed materials and interactive videos created as part of UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Made Clear campaign that can help them make informed decisions about Medicare coverage.
The company plans to open additional stores in malls and shopping centers across more than 30 cities during the open enrollment period. Informational meetings about Medicare, as well as general health and wellness topics, will also take place at the stores in the coming months.
UnitedHealthcare is dedicated to helping people nationwide live healthier lives by simplifying the health care experience, meeting consumer health and wellness needs and sustaining trusted relationships with health care providers.
