ARTICLE UnitedHealth Group Announces Changes to UnitedHealthcare Organizational Structure

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (July 2, 2008) – UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) today announced changes at UnitedHealthcare designed to create a unified full-service brand for all the Company’s commercial benefits businesses and simplify how it communicates and interacts with customers, physicians and other care providers, and other stakeholders. The changes are an important part of the Company’s overall strategy and ongoing actions to improve the operating performance of its key businesses.

UnitedHealthcare will become the brand and organization serving all commercial benefits markets, including national accounts previously under the Uniprise brand; it also will serve the health benefit needs of large governmental employers and their employees, and student communities. Mike Matteo, currently the chief executive officer of Uniprise, will continue to lead the expanded UnitedHealthcare National Accounts business.

Mr. Matteo and the regional chief executive officers of UnitedHealthcare, who are responsible for serving small- and mid-sized businesses, will report directly to Gail K. Boudreaux, executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group and president of UnitedHealthcare. This structure will enable the company to leverage its national expertise to serve customers more responsively and effectively at the local level, where health care is delivered.

“The changes we are making today underscore our commitment to establishing an even more customer-focused organization that is more responsive at the market level and easier to do business with,” said Ms. Boudreaux. “This is another step toward making UnitedHealthcare the full-service brand for all of our commercial businesses and toward streamlining the services we provide to our customers and the market.”
