Touchdown for Tots Fundraising Event to Benefit Chicago-Area Children
CHICAGO (March 1, 2010) The UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation (UHCCF) and the Tommie Harris Foundation are huddling up to support the hopes and health of Chicago-area children by co-hosting the "Touchdown for Tots Fundraising Event."
The March 12 fundraiser at the InterContinental Hotel in Rosemont will be open to the public. The event will feature a dinner, live and silent auction, live music by Domestic Dave, and the opportunity to meet Chicago Bears three-time Pro-Bowler Tommie Harris. The proceeds from the evening will be donated to UHCCF and the Tommie Harris Foundation.
UHCCF is a nonprofit charity that provides qualifying families grants of up to $5,000 to help pay for child medical services and equipment not covered by their commercial health insurance plans. The Tommie Harris Foundation seeks to enrich the lives of children by supporting organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs, Prevent Child Abuse America and Feed the Children.
"My foundation is partnering with the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation to help enrich the lives of children in the Chicago-area," said Harris, founder of his namesake foundation. "We invite the public to join us for an evening of cocktails, dining and entertainment that will support a great cause plus a chance to shake my hand."
"Contributions from people across the country and UnitedHealth Group employees have enabled the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation to enhance the quality of life for many children," said Tom Wiffler, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of Illinois. "With events like this, our goal is to grow the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation grant program so more families can access additional health care services."
Parents and legal guardians may apply for UHCCF grants by completing an online application at www.uhccf.org. The Web site also includes grant-application criteria, video clips, stories about recently helped children, and a new "live chat" feature that enables visitors to speak directly with a UHCCF representative.
Tickets to the "Touchdown for Tots Fundraising Event" are $150 each, or $1,500 for a table of 10. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 312-424-5703.
