ARTICLE UnitedHealthcare Names Daniel Rosenthal CEO Of its Northern California Health Plan

CONCORD, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2010) - UnitedHealthcare has named Daniel Rosenthal CEO, UnitedHealthcare of Northern California.

 

In his new role, Rosenthal will lead UnitedHealthcare's commercial business, which offers employers and individual consumers health benefit plans and wellness programs that help people make better decisions about their health and well-being.  UnitedHealthcare serves more than 1.7 million commercial health plan customers and employs approximately 2,150 people statewide, making it one of California's largest health and well-being companies.

 

Most recently, Rosenthal was CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Florida, leading a large health plan serving individual customers and businesses of all sizes.  Since joining UnitedHealthcare in 2002, Rosenthal also served as regional vice president for UnitedHealthcare's network operations across the Southeastern U.S.

 

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Rosenthal served as senior vice president for managed care and network development for Baptist Health Systems of south Florida, and as a consultant for The Douglass Group of Deloitte & Touche, Price Waterhouse and Arthur Young & Company.

Rosenthal earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Southern California, where he was an All-American swimmer and a United States Olympic trials qualifier.  He also earned a master's degree in health services administration from the George Washington University School of Government and Business Administration in Washington D.C.

 

Rosenthal, who is married with two children, has been involved with numerous community activities in South Florida and plans to mirror that support to nonprofits and other community organizations in Northern California.
