Mississippi Golf Tournament Raises $25,000 for UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation
PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (Oct. 28, 2011) Golfers from across Mississippi and the Gulf States region have raised $25,000 to help children in need of financial assistance for medical services that are not covered, or not fully covered, by a family's commercial health insurance plan.
The money was raised at the 2011 UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation Golf Classic at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club on Oct. 10. The tournament was hosted by the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation (UHCCF) with generous sponsorship support from area corporations, hospitals and businesses.

Proceeds from the annual fund-raising golf classic enable the Foundation to help families in need of financial assistance for treatments associated with medical conditions such as speech and developmental delays, hearing loss, autism, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy. UHCCF is a national nonprofit organization that has provided financial assistance totaling more than $2.7 million in 2011 alone to families across the United States, including Mississippi.
Additional funds were raised for UHCCF from a live auction that offered items such as an autographed football signed by Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints; Mississippi State University sports memorabilia; hotel and resort stays in Mississippi and Louisiana; dinners at renowned area restaurants; and other gifts from numerous Gulf States businesses and attractions.
