ARTICLE UnitedHealthcare's "Grow Healthy Rewards" Contest Encourages New Yorkers to Visit Health-Focused Businesses

NEW YORK (Oct. 4, 2011) - UnitedHealthcare has announced "Grow Healthy Rewards," a seven-week contest that encourages consumers in New York City to visit more than 50 participating health and wellness businesses on the Upper West Side and learn how to live a healthier life or enhance an already healthy one.

To participate, consumers can register online at www.growhealthyrewards.com, where they will receive personalized quick response (QR) codes that can either be printed on paper or emailed to a smartphone. Each participating business will have a UnitedHealthcare "Grow Healthy Rewards" kiosk, where contestants can scan their QR codes to accrue points. Each QR code can be scanned multiple times at a single location, but not more than once in a 24-hour period.

The contest is open to anyone aged18 and over and runs to Nov. 19. No purchase at any of the participating businesses is required, and contestants do not have to be UnitedHealthcare plan customers to participate.

Winners will be chosen based on the number of points they accrue during the contest period. The grand prize is a getaway for two to Napa Valley in California that will include airfare, hotel accommodations, spa and personal-training packages. Other prizes include iPads, Wii Fit Plus consoles and video games, as well as American Express gift cards.

A complete list of rules can be found online at www.growhealthyrewards.com. The website also lists participating merchants, which include food stores, restaurants, fitness apparel and sports equipment retailers, and other health-focused small businesses, along with an interactive map of their locations. Consumers who choose to walk from the northern-most to the southern-most participating retailer will have covered more than three miles - or more than 6,500 steps.

"New York City offers a vast range of choices that can help residents adopt and live healthy lifestyles, and Grow Healthy Rewards is a fun, active contest that encourages and rewards consumers to get to know the many businesses in Manhattan that offer health and wellness products and services," said Bill Golden, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual of New York.

UnitedHealthcare also will also operate a "Grow Healthy Rewards" food truck at various times throughout the contest, offering healthy meal options at no cost. Locations of the food truck will be posted on the "Grow Healthy Rewards" website and emailed to all contest participants. Participating merchants received onsite promotional materials, such as kiosks, posters and other tools to enhance participation. Select merchants may also provide special promotions for "Grow Healthy Rewards" contestants, viewable at www.growhealthyrewards.com.
