MINNETONKA, Minn. (Sept. 23, 2013) – UnitedHealthcare has received three "Stevies" at the 2013 American Business Awards, which honors positive contributions of organizations and businesses. UnitedHealthcare's online resource Health Care Lane earned gold in the health products and services category; UHC.TV received silver in the video or moving image category; and Health4Me app for iPhones and Android smartphones took bronze in the utilities and services category.

The 2013 winners were announced last week in San Francisco. More than 3,200 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in nearly every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories.

"These resources from UnitedHealthcare make it easier for consumers to navigate and better understand the health care system, helping people play a greater role in their health and well-being," said Jeff Alter, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual. "We are grateful to receive these awards – they affirm the value and usefulness of Health Care Lane, UHC.TV and Health4Me in helping people live healthier lives."

Health Care Lane is a virtual town whose "residents" explain fundamental health insurance topics. The site is an interactive, easy-to-navigate resource for anyone who wants to learn more about health insurance. For employers, Health Care Lane can be customized to the benefits and services that are offered to their employees. More than 350 employers have worked with UnitedHealthcare to design their own versions of Health Care Lane.

UHC.TV is an online health and entertainment network that provides originally produced video programming on a variety of health and wellness topics. The online television network, with seven channels, delivers content that encourages viewers to live healthier and happier lives, and to make personally appropriate health choices, offering information from health care leaders and advice from other consumers. The programming is free and available to the public. UHC.TV also offers a streaming channel that UnitedHealthcare employer customers can air in cafeterias, break rooms, fitness centers or anywhere else on the company campus.

The Health4Me mobile app provides consumers enrolled in UnitedHealthcare's employer-sponsored plans 24/7 access to a registered nurse and their personal health benefits information, as well as the ability to locate a nearby physician, hospital or other medical facility. An "Easy Connect" feature enables users to receive a call back on their iPhone or Android smartphone from a customer service representative, while myHealthcare Cost Estimator enables people to comparison shop for more than 500 of the most common medical services and procedures based on both quality and efficiency ratings, where available, and estimated cost.
