South Carolina BBQ Pork Sliders

Ingredients

  • 1 slow cooker liner (we used
    Reynolds® Slow Cooker Liners)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. paprika
  • 2 Tbsp. dried minced onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt-free chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice (optional)
  • 4 lb. bone-in pork shoulder roast
  • 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sliced scallions
  • 24 small dinner rolls, split
Serve with:
  • Hot pepper sauce, coleslaw

Preparation

    1. Line a 4-qt. or larger slow cooker. Mix one tablespoon of the brown sugar with the paprika, minced onion, chili powder, salt, garlic powder and allspice. Sprinkle one tablespoon of the mixture over the bottom of the slow cooker. Rub the remaining mixture over the pork. Add the vinegar and remaining brown sugar to the slow cooker; stir to mix. Add the pork.
    2. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours until pork is tender. Transfer pork to a cutting board and pull into shreds. Return to slow cooker; add scallions and toss to coat.
    3. Put about 1/4 cup of shredded pork onto each bun bottom. Top with bun tops.
