Blood glucose Type 2 diabetes
  • People with blood pressure above 135/80 or who are overweight
  • Repeat every 3 years if results are normal
Blood pressure High blood pressure
  • Starting at age 18
  • At each preventive visit
Cholesterol High total cholesterol, and low HDL (good) cholesterol
  • Routinely for men ages 35 and older
  • Also for young men ages 20 and older who smoke or have high blood pressure, diabetes or a family history of heart disease
Colorectal cancer Colorectal cancer
  • Periodically beginning at age 50 or earlier if you have risk factors for colorectal cancer
Digital rectal exam Any abnormalities of the prostate
  • Uniform screening recommendations for men have not been set
  • He should talk with his doctor about whether he needs to be screened
Hearing test Hearing difficulties
  • Periodically, starting at age 50 as needed or recommended by his doctor
  • All men beginning at age 65
Height and weight General health; obesity

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) HIV
