DOL Clarifies No Penalty on Marketplace Notice to Employees

Sept. 13, 2013

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) posted a notice on Sept. 11 indicating that employers will not be penalized for failing to educate workers by Oct. 1 about health insurance marketplaces created under the Affordable Care Act.

On its website, DOL noted each company "should provide a written notice to its employees about the Health Insurance Marketplace... but there is no fine or penalty under the law for failing to provide the notice."
