UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team
A big part of our mission, to help people live healthier lives, is to provide inspiration and demonstrate what a "life well lived" looks like. Since 2010, UnitedHealthcare has been the title sponsor of a professional cycling team(Opens a new window). With their commitment to healthy habits, good nutrition, exercise and teamwork, this group of high-performing cyclists is the very picture of the ideals we advocate. The choice was obvious. Most people can only aspire to the 100-mile rides that are just part of a day's work for these dedicated professional cyclists. They lead by example – and stir up excitement for UnitedHealthcare.
Team UnitedHealthcare is made up of accomplished men's and women's cyclists from all over the world. The men's team, often referred to as the "UnitedHealthcare Blue Train," has dominated the U.S. racing circuit. In 2013, the team clinched the NCC (National Criterium Calendar) Championship and the UCI America Championship. 2014 is the inaugural year for the UnitedHealthcare Women's Pro Cycling team. We are excited about the caliber of talent the women possess. They are off to a great start already and we look forward to a successful season!
And as bright as their star power is in the world of competitive cycling, it's even more powerful in the events they do as official UnitedHealthcare ambassadors. Team UnitedHealthcare travels the country and participates in community events that promote health, wellness, fitness and other principles of healthy living. They also act as role models, representing the UnitedHealthcare brand and our message about good health, and participating in events that align with our core brand – including visiting children at local community centers.
Supporting UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation
The team also supports the fundraising and "friend raising" efforts of the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation(Opens a new window), our charity that gives children grants that help cover medical expenses.
In addition to helping us generate awareness for the Foundation, the team attends events and interacts in a meaningful way with families and children who have had their lives touched in some way by the Foundation's work. The team even donates winnings from select races. The team has raised over $150,000 for the foundation so far.
If you haven't had a chance to catch the team in action yet this year, Team UnitedHealthcare is fun to watch and races are free and open to the public. See our calendar(Opens a new window) to find races in your area.
