Our commitment to you and your family’s health care needs
We know your relationship with your doctors is deeply personal and important, and we understand how disruptive it can be if your physician or local hospital no longer participates in our network. That is why we’re working hard to reach an agreement with AdventHealth Florida. We want to keep AdventHealth in our network, but we also have a responsibility to ensure healthcare is affordable for the families and employers we serve.
While we remain committed to working with AdventHealth with the goal of renewing our relationship, we also want to reassure you that you’ll continue to have access to the care you need should the health system choose to leave our network.
Ensuring you get the care you need
Our top priority is providing you and your family continued access to the care you need. That’s why we offer continuity of care, which allows UnitedHealthcare members in the middle of treatment with an AdventHealth provider for a serious or complex condition to continue receiving covered services for a period of time after they leave our network. A few examples of patients who may qualify include but are not limited to:
- Women who are pregnant
- Patients with newly diagnosed or relapsed cancer, or those currently in active cancer treatment
If you have questions about continuity of care, whether you might be eligible and how to apply, please call the number on your health plan ID card. Our dedicated team of advocates are ready and available to assist you.

We’re here for you
We know this is difficult. We’re committed to making it easier. Please call us at the number on your health plan ID card if you have questions or need support.
We will stay at the negotiating table as long as it takes. We ask that AdventHealth join us there and work toward an agreement that is affordable for families as well as employers.

About the negotiation
We are actively negotiating with AdventHealth to renew our network relationship. Our top priority is to reach an agreement that is affordable while maintaining uninterrupted network access to the health system.
If we are unable to reach an agreement, AdventHealth’s hospitals, facilities and its physicians throughout Florida would be out of network for the following benefit plans, beginning Jan. 1, 2027:
- Employer-sponsored commercial plans, including Neighborhood Health Partnership (NHP)
- Individual Family Plan (IFP)
- Medicare Advantage plans, including Group Retiree and Dual Special Needs Plans (DSNP)
- UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Florida (Medicaid

This does not impact network access to AdventHealth providers in other states.

Yes. People enrolled in a Medicare Supplement plan continue to have access to all of AdventHealth’s hospitals, facilities and its physicians in Florida, even if the health system goes out of network on Jan. 1, 2027. Medicare Supplement plans are not impacted by our negotiation.
For the past few years we have attempted to collaborate with AdventHealth to address the health system’s costs, which are the most expensive in Florida. Unfortunately, the health system refused to work with us to make healthcare more affordable for families and employers.
As a result, we issued a notice earlier this year to end our current contract, effective Jan. 1, 2027. We believe this was necessary to get AdventHealth to engage in a meaningful way regarding its costs.
Our goal is to reach an agreement that reimburses AdventHealth at market-competitive rates while slowing the unsustainable rise in healthcare costs. We are committed to good-faith discussions and using the remaining time on our contract to work toward a solution people and companies throughout Florida can afford.

Continuity of care allows UnitedHealthcare members in active treatment for a serious or complex condition with a provider at the time they left our network to continue receiving in-network benefits with their provider for a period of 90 days after they went out of network.
Some examples of conditions eligible for continuity of care include but are not limited to:
- Patients who are pregnant
- People currently in active cancer treatment
In some situations, the continuity of care period could last beyond 90 days. For example, women who are pregnant and are approved for continuity of care can continue to receive in-network benefits with their provider through the course of their pregnancy, including the delivery of the child and post-partum services.
UnitedHealthcare members must apply and be approved for continuity of care. They should call the number on their health plan ID card if they need assistance or have questions. Our dedicated team of advocates are ready to support them every step of the way.
People enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare Group Retiree PPO plan may still receive care at AdventHealth as an out-of-network provider should they agree to see them.
The share of the cost will be the same for Group Retiree PPO members as if the provider was part of the network. We encourage UnitedHealthcare Group Retiree members to speak with AdventHealth to confirm they’ll continue to see them, regardless of their network status.
For additional information about our Group Retiree plan as well as information on how to find a provider, UnitedHealthcare members should go to retiree.uhc.com.
The people we serve will continue to have access to a large network of providers throughout Florida should AdventHealth leave our network.
Some examples of health systems remaining in our network include but are not limited to:

- Halifax Health
- Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center
- Moffitt Cancer Center
- Orlando Health
- Tampa General Hospital

Yes. We negotiate thousands of provider contracts every year, and the vast majority of those negotiations result in renewed contracts with no disruption for our members, and also no external noise as the negotiations are handled professionally and behind closed doors.
We are fully committed to engaging in productive, good-faith negotiation and remain focused on our goal of renewing our contract with AdventHealth that provides continued access to quality, affordable care.
UnitedHealthcare members should go to the nearest hospital in the event of an emergency. Their care will be covered at the in-network benefit level, regardless of whether the hospital participates in our network.
