Oxford Preferred Laboratory Network coming to non-HSA Oxford plan members in New York and New Jersey

Beginning with January 2023 policy effective and renewal dates, members of fully insured small group New York (1-100) and New Jersey (2-50) situs non-HSA Oxford plans will have access to the new Oxford Preferred Laboratory Network (PLN). The Oxford PLN consists of contracted independent, free-standing laboratory care providers that have met higher standards for access, cost, quality and service.

What this means for members

There is no change in lab access for these Oxford members – they still can use a lab that is participating in our extensive lab network but is not in the Oxford PLN. Choosing a lab in the Oxford PLN, however, may result in a higher quality of care and lower member out-of-pocket cost.

Outpatient lab services accessed through the Oxford PLN are at a lower average cost than other network lab providers. Members still could choose a lab outside of the Oxford PLN, but the cost will likely be higher, and the cost for services provided by an out-of-network lab may be even higher.

To locate an Oxford PLN lab, members should go to myuhc.com® > Find Care & Costs and look for the blue icon next to the lab name. They can also find one using the UnitedHealthcare® app or call the toll-free phone number on their health plan ID card or 1-800-444-6222 for assistance.

Please note: The Oxford PLN designation will not be turned on in the provider search tool until the beginning of January 2023. Members with a January 2023 policy effective or renewal date who are planning in advance of this date for lab services should call us at the phone number on their ID card or 1-800-444-6222 for help with identifying Oxford PLN providers.
