UnitedHealth Group invests more than $70 million in affordable housing projects throughout California

Orange, CA

Construction is underway for Villa St. Joseph, a new $37 million affordable housing community in Orange that will provide 50 high-quality, affordable apartment-style homes to seniors in the community. Nearly one-third of the new homes will be available for seniors in the region who have been impacted by homelessness.

Many public and private financial and community partners have come together to make Villa St. Joseph possible. UnitedHealth Group, the largest private investor, is providing $16.3 million in equity through a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) partnership with Enterprise Housing Credits Investments, part of an initiative to connect people in need to housing and support services to help them live healthier lives.

Pomona, CA

The Cesar Chavez Foundation, City of Pomona, Citi, Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) the Community Preservation Corporation (CPC), and UnitedHealth Group announced the groundbreaking of a new affordable housing community in Pomona. Chris Hartmire Plaza, named after the late Reverend Chris Hartmire, is being developed by the Cesar Chavez Foundation and will create 90 units of affordable housing for low-income families and homeless veterans on a formerly vacant lot.

Reedley, CA

Construction is underway for Guardian Village, a new $25 million affordable housing community in Reedley that will provide 48 high-quality, affordable apartment-style homes to the community. More than 30% of the new homes will be available for farmworkers and their families struggling with housing insecurity and homelessness.

As part of its $14.4 million equity investment, UnitedHealth Group is also providing $100,000 annually in a capitalized services reserve fund to support services onsite for residents for preventative health activities. Health outcomes will be monitored for residents who volunteer to take part in the program.

Madera, CA

Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) gathered with partners and local dignitaries celebrate the grand opening of Sugar Pine Village, a 52-unit quality, affordable rental community with 16 units reserved for individuals struggling with housing insecurity and homelessness, connecting health and housing through integrated permanent supportive housing.
