Coming soon: Care Cash™ is expanding to self-funded businesses

Care Cash supports members with out-of-pocket expenses and helps with deciding where to get care by supporting care options including UnitedHealth Premium® Care Physicians, primary care physicians, virtual visits, urgent care and behavioral health physicians.

Currently, the Care Cash program is available to fully insured businesses, and beginning April 1, 2022, self-funded National and Key Account clients will be eligible for the program — a unique, innovative way to help ease members’ first dollar responsibilities and encourage informed health care decisions.

Care Cash provides a prefunded debit card program supporting first dollar coverage and is available for use with specific health care expenses, like eligible UnitedHealth Premium® Care Physicians, virtual visit providers, urgent care facilities, primary care physicians and outpatient behavioral health care providers.

Upon successfully enrolling in the program, members can start taking advantage of the savings immediately. Members who have enrolled in the Care Cash program experience a 7% lower total cost of care by visiting a UnitedHealth Premium® Care Physician.1

The Care Cash card:

  • Awards employees $200 for the year for individual coverage or $500 for family coverage
  • Is designed to help provide first dollar coverage for eligible health care expenses
  • Can be reloaded each year after the member completes the activation steps. At the end of the year, any unused card balances remain available in the next year with consecutive Care Cash medical plan participation.

Care Cash is currently available for fully insured Key Accounts and Public Sector (100+), new and existing accounts, available in all states except: CA, HI, IN, KY, MD, ND, NM, NY, RI, SD, VT, as well as FI Small business (1–50) NHP in Florida.
