DR. RANDALL: Employers are asking about behavioral health coverage, behavioral health access, more than they ever have before. I think that's driven by their recognition and our sharing of data with them of the trends that were happening leading up to the pandemic, and the trends that have been happening real time.

DR. ROSENZWEIG: What's really happening with the pandemic is its sort of focused the attention on the importance of behavioral health.

DR. ROSENZWEIG: But we've seen trends over the last decade or more of increased need for, you know, people who are suffering from behavioral conditions.

DR. RANDALL: So, understanding what's happening in your community, and with your workforce as an employer, that's something that you want a partnership with your health plan, who can bring that to you and say, you know what, despite the fact that this is the trend nationally, your trend for your population might be the opposite. And we want to share that information with you so that you can use it to take action.

DR. RANDALL: So, getting access to behavioral health support can often be confusing to navigate, often more confusing than a physical health condition, for example.

DR. RANDALL: Who's in my network? Do they have an appointment available? Are they the right type of clinician for my need? So that navigation to the continuum of care, whether it is a self-help app, or tele-behavioral, health or an in-person setting, or when to start with a primary care physician.

DR. RANDALL: And the recognition that the person that I'm on the phone with really sounds like they’re somebody who needs support, and I can provide that navigation to the right starting point in the system for them.

DR. ROSENZWEIG: What we refer to when we talk about that continuum, or the guided continuum, is the ability to sort of engage with someone either, you know, in real time or digitally, to understand what their needs are, and then sort of connect them with what, you know, the research would show would be the best services for their particular circumstance.

DR. RANDALL: What you're looking for is an employer who is offering, through their benefits , a full continuum and an integrated continuum so that there is access that meets your personalized need.

DR. ROSENZWEIG: You know, there's a growing recognition that it's really difficult to separate out someone's, sort of, mental health from their physical health.

DR. ROSENZWEIG: The most successful thing that you can do is really combine those because it's just a bit of care experience has better outcomes and for any given patient or individual.
