At UnitedHealthcare, sustainability practices aren’t just “nice-to-haves,” the company believes these practices are critical to their work addressing the most pressing health challenges employers and their employees face today.
Which is why, as part of UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare is honored to be recognized once again by the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI NA) and the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI W) for 2018, ranking No. 1 in the Health Care and Providers & Services Sector. This marks 20 consecutive years that UnitedHealth Group has been named to the indices, and the company remains just as dedicated to supporting initiatives that improve health quality and outcomes today as they did when the rankings started in 1999.
This same dedication to the health and well-being of others drives UnitedHealth Group’s social responsibility and philanthropic efforts as individuals and as a company. Which is why, as Hurricane Florence approached the coastline of the Carolinas, the people of UnitedHealth Group, Optum and UnitedHealthcare went into action by helping members gain access to care and prescription medications. In the aftermath of the storm, employees continued to help residents recover and rebuild and UnitedHealth Group and its businesses donated $1 million to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund and $500,000 to the One SC Fund.
When you do business with UnitedHealthcare, you can be assured that you’re working with a company that is focused on the long-term benefits for all of their stakeholders.
Cory Alexander, executive vice president, Corporate Affairs, for UnitedHealth Group, said, “The 285,000 people of UnitedHealth Group are honored to be recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices not only for our efforts to make health care better for everyone, but for pursuing that mission in a manner that is economically, socially and environmentally sound. The highly sensitive and dynamic arena of health care is evolving daily. As an innovative, compassionate and service-oriented enterprise, we also continue to evolve to meet the changing expectations of the people we serve, while remaining exceptional, long-term stewards of our shareholders’ investments.”
