Steve Burdick

Steve Burdick

Steve is Senior Vice President of the UnitedHealthcare National Accounts Specialty client group, which provides customized health care benefit and administrative solutions for The State of New York and the Railroad Accounts. Steve has overall responsibility for business strategy, administration and account management for these two major clients.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare in 2005, Steve spent more than 20 years at CIGNA HealthCare, where he served in senior-level positions in sales, marketing and operations. During his tenure, he was Vice President of Business Development, where he was responsible for the strategy, management and performance of CIGNA’s national consultant and broker distribution channels. Steve also served in sales leadership roles for CIGNA in North Carolina, Arizona and New York.

Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Hamilton College.

John Cravero

John manages the UnitedHealthcare National Accounts client services and implementation organization and strategic business solutions team, which includes training, quality and project/process improvement work.

He is responsible for providing a seamless, holistic service and implementation experience for clients .

John began his career with UnitedHealth Group in 1985 and has worked in a variety of functions including claims, underwriting, sales, marketing services and client services.

John graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Stonehill College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.

Perry Cannon

Perry is a National Vice President of Client Development, located in our Dallas, Texas office. He is responsible for overseeing client development activities for all prospects within our National Account segment. In addition, he is responsible for client management activities for AT&T and Southwest Airlines.

Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Perry was the Director of Account Management in the Dallas office of Towers Watson. In this capacity, his primary areas of focus were managing complex consulting projects and developing new business opportunities. He has 25 years of experience in the design and implementation of health and welfare programs, with an emphasis on the strategic development of health and welfare benefit programs for national employers. Perry began his career working for a large national health plan carrier and was a founder of two start-up companies. In each of his roles, Perry’s responsibilities have centered on benefits strategic planning, relationship management and business development.

Perry holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University with a major in economics.

Brenda M. Bruns, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer,

Brenda Bruns, MD, serves as Chief Medical Officer (CMO), National Accounts, UnitedHealthcare, Employer & Individual. Brenda leads and supports the E&I National Accounts business, including operational, clinical and strategic aspects. She also leads the Virtual Health Plan model, which is an innovative approach for providing coordinated clinical strategy and operations for many of UHC’s largest clients, and serves as a leader for enterprise-wide UnitedHealth Group clinical initiatives. 

Dr. Bruns boasts more than two decades of experience encompassing health plans, hospitals and academic medicine. Most recently, she served as the Executive Medical Director for the Health Plan Division of Group Health Cooperative, one of the nation’s largest consumer-governed health care systems. Prior to that, she was the Chief Medical Officer for another regional health plan, a large regional medical center and a multi-specialty group practice.

Dr. Bruns completed undergraduate work at Stanford University and received her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and a Master’s of Science in Management from Stanford Business School. She is board certified in both emergency medicine and internal medicine and practiced emergency medicine for 12 years, during which time she served on the faculty at Stanford University and at San Francisco General Hospital.

She is currently a member and Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Seattle Opera and spends her spare time shepherding her two children through college and grad school, walking her dog and trying to catch up on multiple reading lists. Her husband is a recovering rocket scientist who has transitioned to the communications satellite industry. 

Dayna Latino

As Chief of Staff, Dayna is responsible for streamlining processes and information flow to facilitate business planning and drive execution in support of organizational goals.

Previously, Dayna was Vice President, Public Sector & Specialty Benefits Integration for National Accounts.

She provided the leadership and oversight for the integration of Public Sector and Specialty Business into National Accounts, along with strategy and tactical execution for special strategic initiatives.

Dayna joined UnitedHealth Group in 1996 as a Senior Marketing Services Consultant for Uniprise. Since that time, she has served the company in progressively responsible roles, including Group Financial Underwriter and Director of Strategic Services for Uniprise; Director of Product Implementation, Vice President of Strategic Alliance – Health Care Alliance; Vice President of Sales and Account Management – Child Support Insurance for UnitedHealthcare; and Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and Client Operations for UnitedHealthcare, Public Sector and Labor.

Dayna received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut.

Al Martino

Al currently heads up National Accounts and Student Resources Underwriting. He began his career with UnitedHealthcare in 2004 as Vice President of Business Development for iPlan. Following this, he held various management positions in Underwriting within Definity Health. He headed up Underwriting for Uniprise prior to his current role.

Before joining UnitedHealthcare, Al held several financial and underwriting roles of increasing responsibility with Cigna Healthcare, where he led a department-wide optimization initiative. He also spent time as a health care consultant specializing in consumer-directed offerings.

Al has four college-aged children and is involved in many community organizations, including serving of the Finance Board of his local church. He attended the University of Connecticut, where he studied Finance, and he plays guitar and writes music in his free time.

Jay Putterman

As Senior Vice President of Marketing and Client Development, Jay is responsible for go-to-market strategies, product, and event planning and execution. His primary responsibility includes the overall development of new customer relationships as well as development and management of relationships with national consulting and brokerage firms.

Prior to his current role, Jay was Vice President of Client Relations within the Strategic Accounts segment of National Accounts. In that role, his primary responsibility was to focus on a select group of our largest and most complex clients in order to develop and enhance those client relationships across the UnitedHealth Group (UHG) enterprise suite of solutions.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Jay worked for Aetna. During his extensive career there, he held various account executive, sales, sales management and client management positions. For most of his years there, he worked exclusively with National Accounts clients, including some of Aetna’s largest relationships. Jay is known in the marketplace as a strategic, client-focused and results-oriented leader.

Originally from Connecticut, Jay received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After spending several years in New York City, Jay moved to West Hartford, Connecticut, where he and his wife Susan have raised their two children.

Alison L. Richards

Alison is Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, and a member of the National Accounts Executive Leadership team. Directly supporting the Client Development and Client Management teams, she plays a vital role in ensuring client satisfaction, retention and growth.

Alison develops short- and long-term strategies and planning initiatives for top clients and assures alignment and execution of deliverables; leads the Customer Advisory Council; and represents UnitedHealthcare National Accounts as a single point of contact for all other UnitedHealth Group companies on strategic initiatives. Alison is an Innovation Champion and a UnitedHealth Group culture facilitator.

For the past 17 years, Alison has been with UnitedHealthcare in a variety of leadership roles from operations to sales. Most recently, as Vice President of Client Relations she was responsible for the development, management and enhancement of large client relationships across the entire UnitedHealth Group enterprise.

During her tenure she managed the Central Region Account Team, which included 50 national accounts customers representing 1.1 million members with a focus on growth, retention and overall customer satisfaction. Alison served seven years in operations, which included management and oversight for major call and claims facilities in the UnitedHealthcare companies.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Alison held strategic positions in operations, sales, provider relations and marketing for Sutter Health and a startup of Amil in Nevada.

Alison graduated with a Bachelor of Science from California State University.

John Ryan

As Senior Vice President of Client Management, John is responsible for the overall satisfaction, retention and growth of UnitedHealthcare’s National Accounts business, including large commercial employers and complex Public Sector entities.

In his General Manager role, John applies consistent processes and a customer-focused approach across more than 400 clients. John is committed to sharing best practices and reinforcing an innovative culture that supports the professional growth of the team and optimizes the organizational performance.

John collaborates across the UnitedHealth Group enterprise, including Optum, UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, UnitedHealthcare Networks and UnitedHealthcare’s regional health plans to advocate on behalf of National Accounts clients. He serves as an executive sponsor for UnitedHealthcare’s relationship with Medica Health Plans and is an active member of UnitedHealthcare’s Client Advisory Council. John also works closely with national consulting partners.

John started with UnitedHealthcare in 2003 as the Midwest Regional Vice President and later as the Senior Vice President of UnitedHealthcare’s high-growth customer segment.

Previously, John worked as a national health care and benefits consultant, both as a principal at Mercer HR Consulting and as an associate for Watson Wyatt (now Towers Watson). He also held roles as the director of three primary care clinics in Illinois and as a Medicare/Medicaid HMO provider relations director. 

John has a Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy and English (Great Books Program) from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Public Administration in Health Care Policy from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. He has also completed the General Management Executive Leadership program at Columbia University.

John serves on the board of Holt International Children’s Services and lives in Naperville, Ill. with his wife Barbara and their four children.

Rick Viesta

As Chief Actuary, Rick has oversight of several actuarial and analytical functions, including Network Analytics, Clinical Analytics, Benefit Strategy and Private Exchange pricing strategy.

Previously, Rick led the Information Solutions Group within UnitedHealthcare Employer and Individual, where he oversaw the development and maintenance of a suite of actuarial and underwriting applications including rating, financial and customer reporting platforms for Key Accounts, National Accounts and Small Business.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare in 2005, Rick spent 12 years at the Guardian Life Insurance Company, where he held several positions, most recently serving as Vice President of Group Medical leading Guardian's health care business unit.

Rick earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Albany, where he majored in mathematics and minored in computer science. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Rick lives in Oyster Bay, New York with his wife Elizabeth and their two children.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Randy Weinstock

As Chief Financial Officer for UnitedHealthcare, National Accounts, Randy is responsible for setting and executing the financial plan for our 11 million members and approximately $4.5 billion in revenue.  Randy evaluates risks and opportunities, develops and drives financial strategies, and executes on key initiatives for the National Accounts business.

Randy brings more than 20 years’ experience working in the healthcare industry.  Prior to this role, Randy was the Underwriting Vice President of the Northeast Region.  He also served as Vice President of Key Accounts Underwriting nationally and, prior to that, Vice President of the Actuarial Pricing department.  Before joining UnitedHealthcare, Randy led the Pricing & Underwriting organization for Oxford Health Plans. 

Randy currently serves on the Board of Directors for Oxford Health Plans and Oxford Health Insurance.  He previously served on the Board for the Health Reinsurance Association and Connecticut Small Employer Health Reinsurance Pool. He is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries. Randy chairs the Finance Committee for the Jewish Community Foundation as well, serving on their board.

Randy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in Actuarial Science and minored in Mathematics.  He lives in West Hartford, Connecticut with his wife, Melissa, and their three children.   

Elizabeth Winsor

Elizabeth is the Chief Executive Officer for UnitedHealthcare National Accounts. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a business that serves more than 425 employers and 11 million members, with revenues of approximately $4.5 billion.

She and the National Accounts team are committed to helping large employers, brokers and consultants achieve their evolving health care goals and better manage costs by offering solutions that take advantage of the full breadth of UnitedHealth Group’s benefits and services. She is known for her leadership in delivering practical, innovative and meaningful results for our clients, as well as her operational and strategic execution and administrative skill.

Elizabeth joined UnitedHealthcare in October 2008 as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Client Relations. Her responsibilities included developing short- and long-term strategies for National Accounts. She also led the Customer Advisory Council, managed sales operations and served as an executive sponsor for numerous clients. Her focus on achieving client satisfaction, retention and profitable growth has made her a respected leader with her team and in the industry.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Elizabeth spent more than 23 years at Aetna, where she led their National Accounts sales, sales support and marketing organizations. She also held positions in underwriting, product, and government, middle market and international segments.

Elizabeth is recognized as a role model for businesswomen. She is active in the community, serving in a variety of leadership positions for the American Heart Association, Connecticut Science Center and Partnership for Children. In 2017, Elizabeth was honored as a leading woman in business by Hartford Business Journal.

Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. She is based in Hartford.
