Health Statements to be discontinued for fully insured National Account and Key Account groups in California and New York
To align with state requirements and increase efficiency, National Account and Key Account fully insured groups in California and New York will no longer receive Health Statements upon renewal.

Effective Jan. 1, 2023, members of National Account and Key Account fully insured groups in California and New York will no longer receive Health Statements upon renewal.
A Health Statement is a rolled-up explanation of benefits document that shows details of health care services received over a 30- to 90-day period for a subscriber and dependents.
Why is UnitedHealthcare making this change?
Current UnitedHealthcare National Account and Key Account fully insured plan members in California and New York receive both an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and a Health Statement. The EOB provides information about the claim for the health care service, including the member’s cost share responsibility. Since the EOB is required in California and New York state, this Health Statement discontinuation will help reduce paper consumption and the number of communications to members
When will this change be effective?
This change is effective upon group renewal, on or after Jan. 1, 2023.
Who is affected by this change?
This is effective for all existing UnitedHealthcare Fully Insured National and Key Account groups with a policy contract state of California or New York.
Can members still get a Health Statement?
Yes — Health Statements will still be available on myuhc.com®. Members can sign in to myuhc.com, navigate to Claims & Accounts, click on Statements and choose the one they wish to view or print.
How does this affect groups with split policies between fully insured and self-funded?
In this case, the self-funded policy level designation will also be followed for the fully insured business. This is the existing process for split funding and will continue to be followed. No change for this business scenario.
