UnitedHealthcare will award $10,000 in funding to the Charleston small business with the best new idea for a health and wellness program with the goal of helping local businesses address the unique health challenges facing West Virginia.
This is the first year that UnitedHealthcare will offer the Community Care Award program in West Virginia. Businesses in greater Charleston with 2 to 100 employees are eligible to submit project ideas from now through July 25.
Judges, including local health care experts and business leaders, will evaluate the project submissions and select the top 5 based on criteria such as community impact, creativity and feasibility. The top 5 applicants will be invited to a live pitch and networking event in August where the “UnitedHealthcare Community Care Award” winner will be selected.
The Charleston Area Alliance and West Virginia State University’s Economic Development Center, leaders in the region’s business development community, are partneringcollaborating with UnitedHealthcare to identify the winning project and support its implementation in the community. In the past, the award program has supported small businesses in communities across the country including Richmond, Va., Kansas City, Kan. and Syracuse, N.Y.
