Under Texas law, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) are permitted to market “Consumer Choice” plans that do not comply with one or more state coverage requirements as long as they offer a plan that does comply with all state requirements.
For Consumer Choice plans that do not comply will all state coverage requirements, HMOs are required by law to obtain signatures of consumers to show they have been given this notice.
This form will be sent to customers on Navigate, Charter and Nexus plans who are renewing their plan or starting a new plan effective Oct. 1, 2018.
Texas law prohibits implementing renewed or new plans without a form signed by the customer and returned to UnitedHealthcare, Failure to comply will result in delaying a new business implementation or cancelling an enforce group’s coverage.
