In February, 2017, Transitional Relief was extended to Dec 31, 2018, meaning all small groups are required to be on an Affordable Care Act compliant plan and community rated after that date.
As a result, you may be interested in discussing with your transitional relief groups a change in plan year and renewal to Jan. 1, 2018. This allows your groups to efficiently take advantage of the Transitional Relief extension and keep the coverage they like for the maximum period currently allowed by law. For groups with renewal dates between Oct. 1 – Dec. 1, we have Jan. 1, 2018.rates available to help them decide.
If you think your Oct. 1 – Dec. 1 groups may be interested in this option for their 2017 renewal, we need to know soon. Here are the simple steps to follow:
- Notify your Renewal Account Executive if you’d like to look at the Jan. 1, 2018 rate for your group.
- Look at the rates, and decide whether it would be in your groups’ best interests to move to that effective date.
- Groups will need to complete our Attestation Form, which simply notifies us of the group’s decision to change their plan year and move renewal dates at the rates provided.
This option may not be available in all states. Please contact your Renewal Account Executive should you have any questions.
