UnitedHealthcare’s gym reimbursement program, Gym Check-In, has expanded to include more than 124,000 facilities across the United States.
The program enables participating employers to provide employees and their spouses the opportunity to each earn $20 to $50 monthly for visiting a fitness facility 12+ times a month.
Gym Check-In is available as a standalone offering to large self-funded employers nationwide, or to small and mid-size employers as part of UnitedHealthcare’s SimplyEngaged program, which incentivizes completing health and wellness activities and is available to employers in most states.
Qualifying for the financial incentive is designed to be simple. Eligible plan participants can use their smartphones to access Gym Check-In on the Rally® mobile app, offered by UnitedHealthcare, to track their visits to nearby and approved gyms. Monthly reimbursements are automatically deposited into the employee’s bank account, distributed in the form of merchant gift cards or reduced from their health plan premiums.
A recent UnitedHealthcare report suggests that companies that strengthen their wellness programs may save costs and improve employee health in the long-term.
Employers interested in offering Gym Check-In to their employees can contact their local UnitedHealthcare salesperson or go to www.uhc.com. UnitedHealthcare plan participants can check their benefit plan to see if their employer offers this program.
