UnitedHealthcare will conduct a member communication pilot targeting fully insured tiered benefit plan members sitused in Illinois. The mailing will be sent to members who previously had a claim with a UnitedHealth Premium® Tier 1 physician from September 2017 to August 2018, and will notify them that their physician’s status will change to a non-Tier 1 status in January 2019. The goal of the communication pilot is to increase member awareness around their plan design and help them make more informed choices.
The number of physicians changing from a Tier 1 status to a non-Tier 1 status is small, so few members will be impacted. Though these physicians will be non-Tier 1 beginning in 2019, they will remain as in-network providers. Members can continue seeing their physician.
Member letters will be mailed in the first week of December. Contact your UnitedHealthcare representative if you have questions about these mailings.
The UnitedHealth Premium®designation program is a resource for informational purposes only. Designations are displayed in UnitedHealthcare online physician directories at myuhc.com®. You should always visit myuhc.com for the most current information. Premium designations are a guide to choosing a physician and may be used as one of many factors you consider when choosing a physician. If you already have a physician, you may also wish to confer with him or her for advice on selecting other physicians. You should also discuss designations with a physician before choosing him or her. Physician evaluations have a risk of error and should not be the sole basis for selecting a physician. Please visit myuhc.com for detailed program information and methodologies.
Tier 1 providers may be subject to change, visit myuhc.com® for the most current information or call the number on your health plan ID card.
