Each year in the United States, almost 11 percent of babies covered by employer health plans are born prematurely.1 The average medical costs during a preterm baby’s first year are 12X higher ($54,149) than a healthy baby ($4,389).1
UnitedHealthcare’s Healthy Pregnancy Program provides screenings and resources to expectant mothers to help identify and manage high-risk pregnancies and potential neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) babies before delivery – helping to reduce this risk and the associated costs.
A new, comprehensive UnitedHealthcare Healthy Pregnancy app will be coming soon as a standard feature within the UnitedHealthcare Healthy Pregnancy and Maternity Support Programs – at no additional cost to clients or members.
The app delivers personalized content and offers health surveys to help determine risks and facilitate needed support and care at the right time during pregnancy. Additionally, the app provides information in one simple, easy-to-use tool that integrates with our maternity management programs.
The app allows members to:
- Connect and share data in real time with a nurse 24/7 to support high-risk care
- Receive easy access to health plan resources and information
- Stay informed about doctor’s appointments
- Check pregnancy-related symptoms
- Track milestones throughout pregnancy, and much more
