UnitedHealthcare is adding new screening updates to its Preventive Care Services Coverage Determination Guidelines (CDG) effective July 1, 2018.
Updates include urine culture screenings for pregnant women, extended age limits for children’s vision screenings, hepatitis B vaccinations for adults and skin cancer prevention counseling for children and adolescents.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), UnitedHealthcare members receive coverage for in-network preventive care services without any cost-sharing requirements, including copayments, coinsurance or deductibles. The CDG guidelines provide members with details about preventive care services and outline which services are covered under the provision. The new changes apply to UnitedHealthcare fully insured and self-funded customers that follow UnitedHealthcare’s standard preventive coverage.
