The NexusACO® plan will be available with an effective date of January 1, 2022, to Small Business and Key Account employers with 2–2,999 employees in Benton, Clark, Cowlitz, King, Kitsap, Lewis, Pierce, Spokane, Skagit, Snohomish, Spokane, Thurston, Whatcom and Yakima counties in Washington, and in Clackamas, Lane, Multnomah and Washington counties in Oregon.
To build the NexusACO provider network, UnitedHealthcare collaborates with select ACOs across the country dedicated to offering higher quality care at lower costs. These providers are featured at the highest benefit level (Tier 1) in the NexusACO network. In markets where ACOs are not yet featured, the NexusACO Tier 1 network includes designated UnitedHealth Premium® Care Physicians and specialists.

In Washington and Oregon, these organized groups of physicians, hospitals and other care providers work together to coordinate patient care and participate in incentive programs to help improve quality standards and the efficiency of care.
How it works
The NexusACO plan offers multiple benefits for customers and their employees, including:
- Potential lower costs – Employees connected with top-performing primary care physicians (PCP) typically receive better care coordination, which may result in up to 15%* lower costs for employers.
- Simpler experience – PCPs guide members and their families to help meet their care needs.
- A path to improved outcomes – Routine visits with a PCP may help employees uncover major conditions without symptoms before they become debilitating.
