About 48 million Americans experience hearing loss, although many do not seek treatment due to costs and lack of coverage. UnitedHealthcare Hearing addresses those gaps with increased access to more affordable hearing health care, as members have access to custom-programmed hearing aids with savings of up to 80% compared to industry prices.
The hearing health program is available to people enrolled in nearly all fully insured plans, as well as most ASO plans — helping reduce members’ out-of-pocket costs to access hearing health care and hearing aids.
“UnitedHealthcare Hearing expands our whole-person benefit plans that offer greater access to quality, cost-effective care for the millions of Americans we serve,” said Tom Wiffler, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits. “Helping people maintain or improve their hearing health can enhance their overall well-being and reduce their risk of falls and health conditions associated with untreated hearing loss, such as depression and dementia.”
Through EPIC Hearing Healthcare, employers can offer an expanded portfolio of hearing health benefit plans that include the full spectrum of hearing aid options and a national network of more than 5,000 credentialed audiologists and hearing health professionals. UnitedHealthcare Hearing will provide additional value to employees and companies that combine medical and ancillary health benefits, including vision, dental and financial protection coverage, through a single health plan.
With hi HealthInnovations, eligible members can purchase custom-programmed hearing aids in person, online or over the phone, at a copay amount determined as part of the members’ plan.1
