The Cancer Support Program, a program designed to help save costs, improve health outcomes and support members facing cancer that has been available for value members since 2006, is now available to all fully insured clients.
Through the program, personal cancer nurses help members make informed decisions about their care. The nurses work with a full team of cancer experts to help deliver personalized case management to each member. They also educate members regarding hospice services and palliative care, as appropriate, in addition to other services.
The program includes Cancer Centers of Excellence Network that provides high-quality, appropriate and cost-effective care. Centers are reviewed annually to ensure they continue to meet high standards. The program achieves proven cost savings and high user satisfaction: a 2.5-to-1 return on investment and a 97 percent member satisfaction rating along with a decrease in hospital admissions.1,2
The Cancer Support Program will be embedded in all existing and new business. No changes are being made to the existing program or premiums.
