CDC expands HPV prevention vaccine to members aged 9 to 45

In accordance with the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations, Gardasil®9 (90651) — a vaccine for use in the prevention of certain strains of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) — is available at no cost share for members aged 9 to 45 covered by UnitedHealthcare medical plans.

Reflected in the Preventive Care Services Coverage Determination Guideline (CDG) on Oct. 1, 2019, this benefit is available to UnitedHealthcare members beginning on their 9th birthday and ending on their 46th birthday.

90651 Human Papillomavirus vaccine types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58, nonavalent (9vHPV), 2 or 3 dose schedule, for intramuscular use. Gardasil®9 Both Benefit Limit: Ages 9 – 45 years (ends on 46th birthday)

ACIP’s updated recommendation does not apply to HPV vaccine codes 90649 (Gardasil®4) or 90650.
