Agility, innovation, and a passion to serve powered our response. Provided $1.5 billion in direct consumer support and support programs. Shifted and deployed clinicians and physicians to telehealth to serve members and patients. Accelerated nearly $2 billion of payments to care providers. Provided more than $100 million in philanthropic support of hot spot relief efforts, health workforce safety, seniors, the homeless, and those who are food insecure.
Addressed health disparities to meet the unique needs of disadvantaged communities through the S.T.O.P. COVID initiative. Expanding COVID-19 testing to reach underserved communities, more than 500,000 people tested through 500 community-based testing sites. Developed a self-administered swab for COVID-19 testing. Selected by HHS to process and distribute $100 billion CARES Act funding to care providers.
Collaborated with Microsoft to launch the ProtectWell app to make the workplace safer. Provided free access to mental health resources to all Americans.
Donated $5 million dollars to accelerate and expand Mayo Clinic's groundbreaking study of convalescent plasma treatments. Completed a study with Yale School of Medicine to reduce COVID-19 hospitalization. Partnered with Boston Scientific, Medtronic and the University of Minnesota to develop and deploy 3,000 light ventilators to address critical shortages.
