To develop and strengthen the research around prevention, diagnosis, infection rates, survivorship and long-term health complications from COVID-19, OptumLabs is launching COVID+ Community – a research registry that invites individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2 to engage in OptumLabs-sponsored COVID-19-related research as it becomes available. Eligible individuals will be invited to participate in the COVID-19 Symptom and Immunity Study – a 2-year study of 10,000 individuals that collects patient-reported symptoms, blood biomarkers and data on clinical health complications due to COVID-19. This research may help:
- Predict the scale of future health complications due to COVID-19 within diverse populations
- Link symptoms and clinical outcomes with predictive blood biomarkers to optimize diagnostic evaluations among individuals infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus
- Characterize immunity over time and its possible association with complications from COVID-19
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions that may prevent more severe health outcomes in the future
