- South Carolina
North Carolina and South Carolina fully insured standard plan offerings will include a new place of service benefit design effective July 1, 2018.
These Advanced place of service plans are designed with a lower cost-share when members seek outpatient care from freestanding facilities. Freestanding facilities typically offer the same outpatient services as in a hospital setting, but at a lower cost. The place of service plans provide options that can help control costs and keep health care sustainable for members and employers.
Outpatient services available at freestanding facilities include:
- Routine lab and X-ray
- CT scans, PET scans, MRIs and nuclear medicine
- Outpatient surgery
- Diagnostic visualization, biopsy and polyp removal
Members can find freestanding facilities in the provider search on myuhc.com or uhc.com by looking for the “Freestanding Facility” indicator.
Some freestanding facilities include:
- Ambulatory surgicenters
- Laboratory facilities
- MRI centers
- Outpatient diagnostic/treatment centers
- X-Ray and radiology facilities
