UnitedHealthcare has recently named two general managers to newly created positions to oversee the Northern and Southern California regions.
Meghan Newkirk, who has served as senior vice president of public sector accounts for the past four years, will serve as the general manager for Southern California.
Steve Cain, who has served as vice president of key accounts for the past five years, will serve as general manager for Northern California.
Newkirk has been with UnitedHealthcare since joining PacifiCare in 2000. She will continue to have overall, statewide oversight for public sector accounts, including the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
“Our public sector team has really demonstrated that we are here to serve those that serve us,” Newkirk said. “We are dedicated to changing the experience of our members and treating them like guests.”
During her time as head of public sector, Newkirk has helped the team grow and retain nearly all of its customers.
Cain has been with UnitedHealthcare for 11 years. He will continue to have oversight of Key Accounts and will take on oversight of Small Group, Business Development and drive Network Strategies.
He has helped drive record membership growth over the past four years, built a best in class team and has established strategic partnerships with the broker and consulting community.
“I'm most excited about how UnitedHealthcare will be part of an ever changing healthcare eco-system. We're uniquely positioned to drive growth and change.”
UnitedHealthcare, which is a company of UnitedHealth Group, serves more than 3.8 million Californians with a network of over 400 hospitals and 100,000 physicians and other care providers statewide. UnitedHealth Group has more than 12,000 employees across the state.
