- Legal and Compliance
- All States
UnitedHealthcare’s Financial Information Privacy Notice (FIPN) will be sent to fully insured dental and/or vision plan subscribers beginning in late July. The notice describes how members’ medical, dental and financial information may be used and disclosed. It also explains how members can exercise their privacy rights. The FIPN is required to be sent out once a year under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).
This mailing excludes subscribers who are covered under a fully insured UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored medical policy. A similar notice is sent to medical plan memberships in the fourth quarter.
The FIPN has been modified to apply to both dental and vision plan members. A sample of the 2019 Financial Information Privacy Notice self-mailer is provided via the link above. Customized versions of the Financial Information Privacy Notice will be sent to members of certain Private Label dental and vision plans. Full versions of the Notices of Privacy Practices are posted on member portals, such as myuhc.com® and myuhcvision.com.
