Ambi Sundararajan is a father of 11-year-old twin boys who lives in New York City. Like many parents, he quickly discovered there’s no how-to manual when it comes to the complexities of raising children.

His son, Nikhil, was diagnosed with autism and is nonverbal. Parenting Nikhil has taught Ambi to be more patient and work hard to understand what his son needs.

Ambi said therapy and counseling has helped him navigate this journey, better control his stress and find a sense of balance — something that’s critical as a special needs parent.

“Therapy has definitely helped a lot,” he said. “And Surest has made it affordable.”

The Surest health plan gives consumers the tools to search for mental health care in the app, whether it’s an in-person office visit, virtual mental health visit or other needed services. The Surest plan’s upfront pricing also allows members to see what they’ll pay, before they schedule services.

A recent third-party study, conducted by a leading global professional services firm, found the Surest health plan also helped lower the total cost of care for chronic conditions, like anxiety — members saw an average of 10% lower costs.

In addition, Surest clinical advocates may help members:

  • Manage care transitions between facilities and providers
  • Find in-network facilities and providers that meet their needs
  • Understand their treatment options
  • Locate resources and support options, both local and online

For Ambi, Surest not only helped him better manage his mental health but gave him a sense of relief when it comes to the unexpected expenses of parenthood.

“I feel like my family’s in good hands with Surest,” he said. “I went to the urgent care, and I had to have both kids checked out — and I paid $201. … That was an aha moment for me.”
