What is the UnitedHealthcare Right Plan Promise?

Published by Medicare Made Clear®

Selecting the right Medicare plan can seem like an overwhelming process, but it doesn’t need to be. UnitedHealthcare® is proud to have served the health care needs of people just like you for 50 years, and the Right Plan Promise™ is a testament to that.

Medicare is individual insurance and a one-size-fits approach doesn’t work for everyone. You may be looking to keep your monthly premium as low as possible, while someone else may have a medical condition requiring regular treatments and being able to see their current doctor is their top priority.

Whatever the circumstance may be, UnitedHealthcare’s Right Plan Promise1 is our commitment to helping individuals, such as yourself, find a UnitedHealthcare plan that best fits your needs.

Find a UnitedHealthcare Medicare plan

To help you sort through your options, UnitedHealthcare created an online tool to help make your shopping experience easier. It asks questions about your needs and provides you with a few plans to consider based on the information you provide about your health care requirements. You can also get advice and further assistance assessing your needs from a UnitedHealthcare Medicare Plan Expert2 at any point throughout the process.

To see how it works, go to the UnitedHealthcare Right Plan Promise page and click the “get started” button.

How does the Plan Recommendation tool assess your needs?

It starts with some basic questions about you — what kind of plan you’re thinking about. For example: Do you want to see all Medicare options, or just certain kinds? And whether you’re on Medicaid, living in a nursing home or have a chronic health condition.

Then it asks some questions about your insurance needs, to get a general overview. For example:

  • Do you want dental and vision coverage?
  • Would you prefer a lower premium and pay for care as you need it? Or would you rather have a higher premium and less out-of-pocket costs?
  • Do you want to make sure you can see your current doctors?
  • Do you want to make sure your current prescriptions are covered?
  • What is your top priority when choosing a health plan?

You may want to think these things through before you start the process — and decide what’s most important to you in a healthcare plan.

You may want to have the names of your doctors and a list of your prescription drugs, dosages, and how often you take them on hand as well. Entering that information isn’t required, but it will help ensure those needs are taken into consideration in the plan options that are shown to you.

Medicare plan recommendations just for you

Based on the information you provide in your plan needs assessment, you’ll be presented with UnitedHealthcare plan options to consider. Some plans may cover most or all of your needs, while others may meet some of your needs but not all. You can also compare plans side-by-side.

For each plan, key features will be highlighted, like monthly premiums, annual deductibles, and cost-sharing amounts (copays and coinsurance). Detailed plan information is available too.

If you’re still not quite ready to select a plan, you can save your plan recommendations or email them to yourself to pick up where you left off later.
