UnitedHealthcare celebrates employees who create great experiences

Over the past few years, UnitedHealthcare has shined a spotlight on more than 30 Everyday LifeChangers – exceptional employees who make a difference for members, providers, colleagues and communities. Congratulations to Travis, Yazmin, Daniel and Chris!

Everyday LifeChangers 2023: Travis

Travis leads the voice of the employee and site mayor programs, which focus on employee collaboration and community building. The voice of the employee program gives UnitedHealthcare operations employees a way to provide feedback on how to make their jobs easier or how to make things simpler for members and providers.

The site mayor program encourages team members to connect with each other across the company to build a sense of community at work. Travis makes it a priority to focus on elevating the employee experience, because when employees are valued by their colleagues and company, everyone can do their best work.

What do you love about your job?

“Hearing from my colleagues! I especially like when team members tell me our site mayor program makes them feel included and appreciated. Because that’s what it’s all about.”

Everyday LifeChangers 2023: Yazmin

Yazmin creates partnerships between communities and local organizations to address health equity issues and social determinants of health. Her parents came to the United States in in their early 30s and, as immigrants, faced challenges like language barriers and access to care.

By better understanding the needs of under-resourced communities and finding organizations that can address those needs, Yazmin is able to help make a huge impact, all while living out her childhood ambition of making a difference for those who need it most.

What do you love about your job?

“The people! My team went to Revere, Massachusetts, for a KABOOM! playground build and events like this let me make authentic connections with members of the communities we serve. I love feeling that rush of excitement when we make a positive impact in real time.”

Everyday LifeChangers 2023: Daniel

Daniel helps bring resources to the Medicare and Medicaid population in Washington, D.C. He uses data to create lasting, positive change – and that’s what drives him.

While data can help show what statistically might work best in a market – it’s more than that. Daniel gets out in the community, meets people, understands their needs and uses his life experiences to connect with them in new ways.

What do you love about your job?

“I love being a catalyst for change. In so many communities, people don’t take their health seriously until it’s too late. I’m able to connect people with local resources in a way that’s relatable and accessible. It’s great to get to know people and have real conversations and ignite change that leads to better health outcomes.”

Everyday LifeChangers 2023: Chris

Chris is a problem solver. When providers need help submitting the right information online, she’s there to assist. She keeps track of the obstacles our clinicians face to look for ways to change and improve processes.

By connecting with people across the company to get answers, she ensures providers and members have the best experience possible.

What do you love about your job?

“A task like scheduling a medical procedure can be stressful for our members. When I’m able to accelerate a prior authorization, it means a member doesn’t have to worry about logistics and can focus on getting care. Simply helping people – knowing I was able to make a member’s life a little easier – is my favorite thing about coming to work each day.”
