What should I do in an emergency?
If you have an emergency, go immediately to the closest Emergency Room (ER) at the nearest hospital. If you need help getting to the ER fast, call 911. You do not need a referral from your PCP to use the ER.

What should I do if I get a medical bill?
Sometimes you might get a bill that should have been sent to us. If you get a bill, call Member Service at 1-866-270-5785 for help.
How do I get a doctor’s appointment?
Call your Primary Care Physician (PCP) office. Your doctor’s name and phone number are shown on your Plan ID card. If you feel you need to see the doctor right away, tell this to the person who answers the phone. Give the office the following information:
Does each family member have to have the same doctor?
No. Family members may pick their own PCP.
Do I need to bring my ID cards with me?
Bring both your UnitedHealthcare ID card and your BIC with you to every medical appointment. If you do not have your UnitedHealthcare ID card, please contact member services at 1-866-270-5785 to have one mailed to you or you can print one from the member portal.
What if I want to choose a different plan?
Members can change plans every month. If you would like to switch to a different plan, contact Health Care Options at 1-800-430-4263 between 8 am and 5 pm Monday – Friday.
