Medicare Estimation update for small business customers

Starting October 1, 2025, UnitedHealthcare will no longer apply Medicare estimation for select 2–50 Fully Insured and Level-Funded customers.

Starting Oct. 1, 2025, UnitedHealthcare will no longer apply Medicare estimation for our 2–50 (2–100 in California and Colorado) fully insured and Level Funded customers in all states except New York sitused groups. Note that NY sitused groups will continue to apply Medicare estimation as noted in our contracts. Please reach out to your local support team for specific questions or details.

This change is based on feedback to simplify the member’s experience especially for smaller groups where Medicare is the primary payer and members have not enrolled in Part B.

Medicare estimation will not apply to services received on or after Oct. 1, 2025. This update does not impact any claims for services rendered before that date.

We encourage those eligible for Medicare to research their options about Medicare Parts A and B and potential penalties for late enrollment. Visit www.medicare.gov for additional information.
