UnitedHealthcare expands Sanitas ACA Marketplace plan in 3 new markets
Good health often starts with a strong connection to care. It means having access to doctors in your area who can help you be proactive with your health. It also means having coverage that meets your individual needs — and your budget, along with a understanding of where to go for care when a health issue emerges.
The UnitedHealthcare ACA Marketplace plan in partnership with Sanitas Medical Centers is designed to help members connect coverage with coordinated, culturally aligned primary care close to home.
To help meet that need, UnitedHealthcare and Sanitas are expanding their collaboration into additional communities, connecting more individuals and families to primary care, wellness resources and integrated health services close to home.
Building on the successful launch in San Antonio, Texas, the UnitedHealthcare-Sanitas ACA Marketplace plan expects to be offered for the 2027 plan year in three new regional markets, including:
- Fort Bend County in Texas
- Maricopa County in Arizona
- Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties in Florida
“At Sanitas Medical Centers, we are committed to building lasting relationships that empower patients to achieve better health outcomes,” said Ivette Tejeiro, Sanitas Vice President of Growth. “Our work with UnitedHealthcare helps expand access to coordinated, high-quality primary care, ensuring more individuals and families can receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.”
A model designed to make care simpler
This collaboration is about more than coverage — it’s about making health care easier to navigate and more personalized. The UnitedHealthcare-Sanitas model combines health plan coverage with coordinated, culturally aligned primary care to help remove common barriers like cost, complexity and access.
Members are connected to a dedicated primary care provider (PCP) and care team who help guide their health journey — from preventive care to referrals and follow-up support. This approach is designed to create a more seamless experience, helping members understand where to go for care and how to get support along the way.
“UnitedHealthcare is focused on making it easier for people to access affordable health coverage and connect with quality care in their communities,” said Claudia Amaya, regional vice president of Individual & Family Plans and Hispanic Initiatives for UnitedHealthcare. “As a continuation of that commitment, our expanded collaboration with Sanitas helps bring personalized, culturally relevant care to more individuals and families, reducing barriers to care and supporting healthier outcomes across the communities we serve.”
How does the UnitedHealthcare-Sanitas health plan work?
Members enrolled in a UnitedHealthcare-Sanitas ACA Marketplace plan have dedicated access to care from Sanitas Medical Centers, which offer a convenient, community-based setting with a range of services.
Members receive care through Sanitas providers, who can help them navigate all aspects of a person’s health journey.
Key features of the plan include:
- A dedicated primary care provider (PCP): Each member is paired with a PCP who coordinates care, both in person and virtually
- Convenient access to care: Walk-in visits, same-day appointments and virtual care options help make it easier to get care when needed
- Integrated services: Access to primary care, mental health support, wellness programs and select diagnostic services in one location
- Affordable, predictable costs: Plans are designed with lower premiums, lower copays and upfront pricing to help reduce surprise bills
- Coordinated referrals: PCPs guide members to in-network specialists when needed
- Culturally aligned care: Many providers are bilingual and part of the local community, helping deliver more personalized, trusted care
This connected, value-based approach is designed to support better health outcomes and help people manage costs — giving people more one-on-one time with providers and clearer guidance along the way.
